Hi All

Good news (!?) from Samppa - the Slovak winners from Straubing 2007 are now coming.

Houstie will be pleased, particularly if they bring along some more pieces of Italian meat.

Dave

5 Neil Parkin
6 Dave Littlewood
7 Ray Taylor
8 Robin Littlewood

12 Geoff Collins
14 Alex Collins
16 Joe Bangs
31 Gary Froud (G)
44 Ian Houston
63 Guy Sutherland
88 Neil Gatherum
89 Shaun Littlewood
91 Neil Edmunds
Adam Andrews

(16 players)
Update - Adz (Adam Andrews) has contacted me today and said he might need to pull out. I'll talk to Adz further this week. If so there might be a space for a player to come in, as it will also impact on accommodation costs. Please let me know asap if anyone not on the original team is interested in coming on the trip - Aza, might that be of interest if the Raiders don't make the playoffs??

2. Team Jackets

Froudy is putting the order in, so we'll have them ready for Jamsa.

3. Itinerary

The details of the flights are as follows:

Depart: Stansted to Tampere, Thursday 27 March 2008 at 17.50 (arr 22.30)
Return: Tampere to Stansted, Sunday 30 March 2008 at 22.55 (arr 23.45)

We will need to leave Swindon around 12 noon to 12.30 on the Thursday. We will arrive back at around 2.30am to 3.00am on Monday 31 March. The Dangerfields bus will be paid fro from the Sports Club budget.

4. Accommodation

A disappointing number of responses! However I've gone ahead and booked the accommodation. The cost is 1925 Euros, including towel and bed linen.

We have booked:
1 * HIMOSPORT www.himoslomat.fi/english/himosport.html - price 1170 EUR/Cottage
1 * HIMOSHOVI www.himoslomat.fi/english/himoshovi.html - price 595 EUR/Cottage

The distance between Himoskotka and Himosport is about 50 m walking. The offer price is included end-cleaning. Towels and bed linen - 10 Euros each.

At the current exchange rate it will cost around £90 per head. If you check the links below, it really does look like a special place to stay particularly as we'll have a free day on Friday. You will all need to pay £45 over the next few weeks (i.e. by Friday 1 February at the latest) and then another £45 in mid-March.

5. Finland information update

Some update information from Samppa:

5.1 Bus transfer from Tampere airport to Jamsa

I just got information about airport-transfers from bus-company. Total amount is 500EUR. On thursday from Tampere Airport to Himos and back on Sunday from Jamsa to Tampere Airport. In your group is 16 persons so it is, 500/16 = 31,25 euro/ person. This works out at around £24 each.

5.2 Rouen and Pillnach teams' itineraries

Frenchmen and Germans arrives to Helsinki on Friday about 16:00. So far I got information that Germans leave on Monday and Frenchmen on Tuesday, but I informed Christian that it is cheaper and easier if LES Gentlemen stays mon-tue night at Helsinki. So they can share bus with Germans both way. I meet you there at Tampere airport. Rouen stay at Himos and Pillnach stay in city centre hotel.

5.3 Tournament timetable and extra curricula activities

Tournament games will be in Jamsa Icehall, which is in the centre of Jamsa 6km from Himos Village, we arrange transfers. Tournament games will be on Saturday and Sunday. Players party will be on Saturday night at Himos.

Jamsa´s number one nightlife is at Himos Arena, which is one biggest clubs in Finland nowdays (1500 peoples). There will be live bands on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Players party will be also there. Himos Arena pics www.himosareena.fi/galleria.php

If you like we can arrange some activities on Friday. We can go to Jyvaskyla, which is about 60km from Jamsa. Jyvaskyla is city with about 80000 inhabitants. jyvaskylanseutu.fi/travel. In Jyvaskyla there is Icehockey team JYP, which is playing in highest level. It seems that Jyp goes to play-offs, if we are lucky maybe they have game on Friday. In Tampere there is 2 teams at highest level. From Jamsa to Tampere is 90km. Or there is lot to do at Himos also.

If we arrive in Himos around 1.30am on Thursday night/Friday morning, I'm assuming we will still have a few hours from some small beers?!?
If your flight is on schedule, we can start our trip from airport to Himos about 23:00, so by bus it takes about 1h30min to Himos, depending on weather conditions and how many ice bears there are on the road....;-) So if everything goes fine then we are earlier than 01:30 at Himos. We can take little break at Orivesi( 40 km to Jamsa), there is big 24H gas-station with supermarket where you can, if you like, buy some Friday morning breakfast stuff. They sell also beer, but from Supermarkets(and gas-stations) you can buy it only from 09:00am to 9:00pm. (I think Finland have one of the most strict alcohol-law in the world) But don`t worry, I take beer to the bus ..... ;-)
- From Tampere airport to Jamsa is about 105km.

5.4 Tournament format

It looks like five teams:
HC Great Jamsa (Finland)
RSC Pillnach (Germany)
Rouen Gentlemen (France)
Nationwide Knights (United Kingdom)
5th team will be a company team from Tampere (Finland)

6. Amounts outstanding...

Finally, could the following please let me have your balances outstanding as soon as possible please (i.e. payable to me please!):

Adam Andrews - £115
Geoff Collins - £18.13
Guy Sutherland - £19.13

Any more information, please give me a shout.

Cheers

Dave
